Inducted 27 Oct 1995 Ken Perry was first introduced to the St. Paul Ski Club in 1979 when his son indicated a desire to become involved with the sport of ski jumping. From 1980, until present, Ken has been a member of the St. Paul Ski Club. He began to escort junior ski club members to out of town meets and totaled numerous miles. In 1982 Ken’s talents as an announcer of ski tournaments were recognized after he was coerced into doing the public address announcing of a tournament for the first time. He has since become one of the best ski jumping tournament PA personalities in the sport. Ken Perry became a St. Paul Junior Ski Club director in 1983. In this capacity, until 1988, he developed and published a junior ski jumping handbook. He began the practice of giving each junior skier a folder with an individual and group picture. He was involved in directing junior training clinics He continued to travel to out-of-town training camps and junior tournaments as a chaperone and mentor. He became the “unofficial” club photographer, video taping numerous events. He assisted in compiling video tape and has developed tape and slide presentations which were utilized in the recruitment of junior ski jumpers. In 1984 Perry was elected to the St. Paul Ski Club Board of Directors and became the Recording Secretary, a position he maintained for many years. He organized and was responsible for raising near $3,000 that aided in the construction of the “100-year Memorial Spectator Stairway”, which he designed and worked on diligently until its completion. He has served on numerous work parties. He designed and assisted in the construction of stairways that serve the 20 and 45 meter ski jumps. He was involved in the design and reconstruction of the chalet offices and loft. Ken has utilized his expertise in developing a computer program for the quick and efficient publishing of tournament results. He has raised funds throughout the organization and officiation of the “Jump-To-It” and “Jump-Into-Winter 10K” which have aided the St. Paul Junior ski Club programs. During his tenure as a member of the St. Paul Ski Club, Ken Perry has proven to be a valuable resource. His desire to be an integral component of many aspects of the organization, though he has never actively competed as a ski jumper, reflect his aspirations to serve with integrity and responsibility. His dedication and commitment to the sport of ski jumping are reflections of his affinity to serve as a mentor, assistant, and leader, in many environs and activities. Ken Perry’s service to the St. Paul Ski Club and to the sport of ski jumping is reflected in the positive role model he is identified with in every arena in which he endeavors to offer his talents.
