Kitty Perry
Inducted 14 Oct 1997

Thinking it too dangerous, Kitty Perry was reluctant to become involved the St. Paul Ski Club when her son Keith first indicated a desire to become a ski jumper in 1979.

She eventually came to observe, and from her first adventure as a spectator, Kitty has shown a keen desire to be a part of the activities. Particularly she has devoted numerous hours to the St. Paul Junior ski Club and the propagation of programs that serve and support its members.

Early in her experiences with the club, Kitty began to volunteer and assist in the registration at junior meets. From there, she became interested in the many aspect of “the behind the scenes” operations of a ski jumping tournament.

Kitty was appointed to the position of St. Paul Junior ski Club director. Later, she became the first woman elected to the St. Paul Ski Club Board of Directors and the St. Paul Educational Foundation. She continued to serve in those capacities for many years.

Since accepting the responsibility for registration and tournament results in 1983, Kitty has become the St. Paul Ski Club “expert” at compiling results and ensuring a smooth operation at all levels of competitive ski tournaments.

Kitty was involved for many years - more than any other individual - in running ski tournaments, while seldom having the opportunity to view the sport of ski jumping first hand.

Her dedication to the correct compilation and computation of style and distance points, along with the computation of results in a professional manner, have become the accepted practice at St. Paul Ski Club tournaments.

The system she operates in such a proficient atmosphere, has become a model that clubs throughout the USSA-Central Division have envied and emulated.

As one who has mastered the many aspects of the club operations, she has been a “behind the scenes” contributor who has elevated her altruisms to truly outstanding achievement.

Having devoted generous years to the sport, while confined to an area which allows only for the intake and dissemination of statistics and never for the firsthand appreciation of the beauty of the sport, Kitty deserves to be the recipient of the St. Paul Ski Club’s richest reward and induction into the Hall of Fame.

She truly fits the category of “unsung hero” and wears the label well.
